Unemployment rate drops – good sign for the economy

Friday, April 6th, 2007

American employers have shown mammoth activities in March 2007 by hiring people randomly which resulted in a drop of Unemployment Rate to five-month low of 4.4%. The report published by Labor Department also states that workers saw a bigger paycheck this month. So the financial year is going to be ended happily, good you know.

Now, why am I writing all this in my blog? I think, unemployment problem has a strong influence on consumer debts. People with a job are less likely to be in debt; there are exceptions though. However, this huge recruitment in March should be continued in the coming days as well keeping the Economy active. And I am optimistic, once the process has started, it will definitely continue.

Nylon

Is it true that the term Nylon was coined from New York-London? One of my friends told that researchers behind this polymer were from New York and London, hence the nomenclature.

Sisters and Brothers of America

Friday, January 12th, 2007

…5 words resulted in a round of applause that lasted for some minutes. Yes, I am talking about the 1893 Parliament of World’s Religions at Chicago. Swami Vivekanada, an Indian monk, was at the center of attraction of the session and millions of Americans were moved by his simple words “Sisters and Brothers of America.”

Today the Globe is celebrating the 144th Birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Let’s not miss the opportunity to offer our gratitude to one of the biggest personalities of the world, who taught us to worship humanism.

Christmas gifts are always precious

Saturday, December 9th, 2006

Yes it hurts to see people judging gifts with its usefulness and price.

Author Patrick Moore tried to make some good points in his article Stopping Shopping at Christmas. I do feel that I need not buy precious gifts for my fiancée to show my affection to her. She can feel it very well that how much I love her; however, I will buy one for her this Christmas. And I will shop for my parents, my brother, my grandma and for my friends too. They won’t mind nothing if I don’t buy anything for them, but I don’t want to miss the million dollar smile on their face when I present them with the gifts.

Patrick commented about the story of O. Henry:

Both hair and watch are gone, making the gifts all the more poignant.

However, I feel that both the gifts became sweeter and that’s the essence of the love: sacrificing your greatest possession for your love even when it is not necessary.

And we should not forget about txtreasure also. She has a great family, lovingly kids who are caring and considerate. Buying gifts for them is not a compulsion but it’s a kind of happiness that all the mothers would cherish. And what community did for her is simply great.

Also if we go through the What was your best present ever? thread in DebtCC forums, we can easily understand that gifts are not evaluated by money, usefulness nor the height weight and length; but the way it is presented.

I can’t help but defer Patrick Moore on his article about Christmas gifts. When I had no money, I used to prepare cards by my own and sent them to my friends! I will buy Christmas gifts in future also. And I am ready to cut my budget on other accounts to buy Christmas gifts. It’s not a stress, it’s a relief.

Save time

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Time is valuable and in modern world time is one of the scarce elements  People are running behind time, corporate houses are spending lots of money on time management and work optimization. So time is such a dimension that is becoming rare nowadays.

Professional debt consolidation programs saves lots of time for consumers indeed. I am not saying that Do It Yourself approach is bad, but it needs lots of time for reading, gathering information and knowledge, documentation and so on.

Debt consolidators not only help you follow the fruitful path, but do lots of formalities on behalf of you and you save some time. However, you should be dealing with a good and reliable company; otherwise they will do no good with you, your credit or with time.

When the headline gives misconception it is better to read the full story

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

null

While leafing through the forum pages suddenly I felt that most people cannot differentiate debt consolidation loan from a debt consolidation program. It took few hours for me to understand the differences. (Thanks to the knowledgeable people of the forums :D )

I was reading an article written in Bankrate.com titled “Dangers of Debt Consolidation” few days back. Initially I was stunned to see the headline!!! But, after reading the whole article I felt better. It lists the danger of debt consolidation loan and it speaks for debt management and credit counseling program!

I have read Jessi’s post in forums “What is NOT in your credit score”. It shows the impact of credit counseling on one’s credit report. I have also read posts made by Roxette about the Dangers of Debt Consolidation Loan!

Then why the Bankrate.com article is popular? I think, they have gathered all the relevant information under one roof. In DebtCC, this kind of posts are scattered in different forums which a newbie find hard to discover. What is your opinion; can we do make some changes here?

Beware of shady MOVERS

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

One of my friends shifted to my city. She contacted a Mover. The agent visited her place and started taking notes of all the pieces of furniture. Remember, all of those were in good condition. Still when she received them in the new place, she just could not recognize them. She cried and screamed – “what you did with it?”

I have talked to an attorney so that she can claim compensation from the company. The attorney said, she should have taken photograph of all my goods before handing it over to them (with date). Moreover she should have watched what note the rep took about the furniture. They purposefully report it as in bad standing.

To all, who are planning to move – beware of them.
